Renaissance |
14th to 17th century |
The
Renaissance was a period in European
history, from the 14th to the 17th century.
It's the cultural bridge between the Middle
Ages and modern history - starting in Italy
in the Medieval period, and spreading to the
rest of Europe. It's the beginning of the
Modern era.

The Greeks believed that creative inspiration was caused by
a
divine spirit – Damon. The Romans called it a genius. During
the Renaissance we believed that people were
geniuses – rather than saying they were inspired by a
genius.
During an inspired performance people would say, ‘Allah
Allah Allah’. In Spain they say, ‘Oley Oley Oley’.

been suggested to be the prime source of inspiration

Picasso's
Les Demoiselles d'
